Community Safety

American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid The following American Red Cross certification courses help participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies for adults and/or infants and children. The courses teach skills needed to give immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill person until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Students who successfully complete one of these courses will receive certifications for Standard First Aid, Adult CPR/AED and/or Pediatric CPR/AED, which are valid for two years.

American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid for Your Workplace If you are interested in having a CPR/AED and/or First Aid Course for your workplace please let us know. We will gladly set-up a class at our facility during the typical 9-5 work day. Special group rates are available for businesses with 8 or more participants. Please contact Matti Svoboda at 354-4935

Lifeguard Training This American Red Cross course is designed to teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries. Please note that this class has a swimming pre-requisite. Participants who pass will be certified in Lifeguarding, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and AED.

Dates: Monday-Thursday, April 9 – April 12
Ages: 15 years old and up, must pass course pre-requisites on the first day of class

Water Safety Instructor (WSI) This American Red Cross course is to train instructor candidates to teach water safety, the Learn-to-Swim Program, Preschool Aquatics and Parent-Child Aquatics. To take this class you must be 16 years old and pass the pre-requisite skills. We will have classes during April and May. Contact Matti Svoboda at 354-4935 for more information.
